Included with your puppy will be a folder with health records pertaining to the health and vaccinations to date and schedule of deworming for you to pass onto your veterinarian.
Also included will be some information regarding the feeding schedule, vitamin supplements and routine your pup has had while being raised with us.
Puppies should be taken into your vet for follow up vaccines four weeks from the stated date on your accompanying health passport records and thereafter scheduled and recommended by your vet.
When weaning from the mother we chose to use a blend of Royal Canin puppy kibble or Summit puppy kibble and PetAg Esbilac Puppy Milk formula. At 6 weeks of age our puppies are introduced to NuVet and NuJoint vitamin supplements daily for ultimate nutrition , immune system and joint growth support . Our puppies are not given any form of treats as they do not offer any nutritional benefits and young puppies have digestive tracts that are still developing and this can cause upset tummies and diarrhea if given at too young of an age. We do not recommend treats until the puppies have reached 12+ weeks of age.
Please check in with the website on your litters profile for updates pictures. Pictures are generally updates at 2, 4 and 6 weeks of age.
Vacationing and Boarding
During the summer and holidays we often have families who will be away for the "go home" date of their puppy and are unable to receive their puppy at that time .To accommodate this scenario we offer a maximum two week boarding service for these situations. There is a fee of $100 per week for boarding due payable with the final balance of the puppy. Final balance of puppies must be paid in full by the age of 8 weeks regardless of the boarding time required. Puppies will be scheduled at the next available delivery date after your arrival home.
Upon your arrival home we will have your puppy scheduled to be delivered on our next available delivery date or you may pick your puppy up
One week before your puppy is old enough to go home we will update you with the contact information of our designated delivery person for your puppy/litter. By that time he / she will have scheduled a drop off date/place/time for the deliveries.
Bringing your puppy home to his or her new family can be a very exciting time, it is also often a time of worry in that you do not know what to expect from your new little pup. This is a very stressful time for your puppy as well as it is the first time they are experiencing life away from their mom and siblings. They are in a new environment with new people , strange smells and nothing is familiar to them. Due to the stress of adjusting to their new home puppies will often go off their food for a couple of days and may even experience stress related diarrhea, please know this is completely normal and generally only takes a few days to adjust back to normal. Puppies also tire very easily and need lots of sleep for their healthy development and well being, so it’s important to give your puppy plenty of opportunities to rest. At first, they need as much as 16 to 18 hours of sleep every 24 hours.
There are a ton of products available for puppies. Here are our suggested "must haves " to be ready for your pups arrival. PUPPY SUPPLY LIST
Food and water bowls
Stainless steel bowls work well as they can’t be chewed, are easy to clean and do not rust, chip or break. Noise sensitive puppies may prefer plastic bowls.
Puppy food to support growth
Initially, this should be the same food your puppy's being fed with the breeder. Puppies have very sensitive GI tracts therefor we do not recommend feeding any wet or canned food under the age of 12 weeks.
Toys
Buy toys, balls or treat-dispensing chew toys that are the right size for your puppy. Rubber dog toys are often more durable and recommended for an older puppy and into adulthood. We find the puppies are very fond of the toys that squeak or make crinkled noises.
Collar and leash
Choose a collar that will adjust as your puppy grows. We recommend an adjusting 6"-12" range collar for all of our doodle breed puppies. As a younger pup learning to walk with a leash we find that a harness is a better option. We recommend using an adjustable 10"-19" harness for all of our doodle breed puppies.
Cleaning supplies
Buy non-hazardous cleaning materials that don't have a strong scent to avoid your puppy associating the smell with accidents.
Grooming equipment
Depending on your puppy's coat type and whether or not you prefer a shorter cut or doodle fluffiness, you will need a brush, comb or grooming mitt. You’ll also need nail clippers designed for dogs.
Hygiene equipment
Choose a toothbrush, toothpaste and shampoo that is specially designed for dogs. Cleaning your puppies teeth from a young age is recommended. We recommend using "Chi" shampoo and conditioner (it smells great!)
There should be enough room for your puppy to stand up, turn around, and lie down comfortably.
